Dane Tousignant helps families navigate the challenges and avoid the pitfalls of separation. His solution-focused approach helps his clients preserve their assets, relationships, and peace of mind.
Family law disputes are different than other legal problems. People are often financially and interpersonally entangled and come to the table with years of history. The traditional approach is adversarial and is ill suited to resolve these problems. The vast majority of separating couples don’t need a court to resolve their dispute – they just need help and good advice to work out an agreement, and to make that agreement something they can rely on.
Dane recognizes that people want to save their hard-earned money and shelter their children from the emotional fallout of a separation. He empowers his clients to make the right decisions for themselves and for their children. As a former criminal prosecutor, Dane is comfortable in the courtroom. But as a trained mediator and crisis counselor he strives to resolve matters without litigation whenever possible.
When Dane’s not in the office he can be found woodworking in his shop, enjoying the outdoors, and teaching his children the fine art of pinball. He is a 2011 Juris Doctor (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign, holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta, and is an active member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association.
