Monica was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Victoria with a major in Sociology and Social Justice. She received her Bachelor of Laws in 2015 at Cardiff University in Cardiff, Wales, where she achieved an honours designation. While completing law school, Monica volunteered extensively with the Cerebra Legal Entitlement Research Project providing pro bono legal services to families with children with disabilities. She was also awarded the Cardiff Law School Academic Merit Scholarship for International Students two years in a row.

Monica practices exclusively in family law. She completed her articles at an established family law firm in Calgary and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2017. Monica understands the emotional toll separation takes on family members and it is her goal to empower her clients with the knowledge and advice they need to smoothly navigate all aspects of their separation. Monica is aware that no two families are the same and she is comfortable utilizing both alternate dispute resolution processes, such as mediation and arbitration, as well as the Court system for her clients. She has appeared successfully at the Alberta Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench and has extensive litigation experience as junior counsel in complex family property, support, and parenting trials.

Monica is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association Family Division, Association of Women Lawyers and the Law Society of Alberta. When Monica is not practicing law, she enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering in her community, and hiking and skiing in the mountains.
